We know you've been waiting to hear the title of Sophie's brand new studio album and we are now very pleased to confirm that the album title is...
... 'Make A Scene'!
The first single to be taken from the album is the brand new Freemasons-produced track 'Bittersweet'. The single will now be released on May 2nd, with the album to follow after another single.
Sophie had this to say about 'Bittersweet' in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy...
"It's another song I did with the Freemasons. It's very pop-dance," she said. "I think the chorus sounds a little bit like it's from a musical - it's quite sort of dramatic and melodic, and a bit meandering in a good way."!
Head across to www.digitalspy.co.uk now to watch the interview in it's full glory.
oh! i was hoping for an April release like Sophie said. Oh well, another month's wait won't harm. But i do hope the song hits the radios soon. It seems to be immense! Wishing the very best for Sophie. And i hope there wont be any further delays after 2nd May.
Kx
Mayo 2nd? Another postponement more? MY GOD.
- June, July, August, September, October, November, December, 2011 -
With this step, the single will never be released...
We must reload more patience, guys.
settle down. you act like you have nothing else to listen to in the mean time.
oh, wait,
there is tons of music out there
(including everything Sophie has already ever recorded and the scores of remixes of those songs)
a great songwriter once wrote 'life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans'
the new Sophie music will be here at some point, and all this whinging will be relegated to the 'pointless' file where it belongs
They continue delaying the things, it is distasteful...
"June, July, etc, etc" was a joke, dear.
I have much music to listen but Sophie's music is the more important to me ;)
Poor Sophie, she always get into trouble about dates. Since she has started postponing things, people are making fun of her delays :-( ... and now, plus this one to make things worse =( Her label should be more careful changing dates, this is definitely not a good publicity for Sophie.
this makes me laugh
i don't see anyone 'legitimate' making fun of sophie.
i see professional journalist tripping over themselves to talk to her at events at the elle style awards.
the interest in Sophie is very much alive and well
My statement is based on what I see on internet like music forums, lastfm, blogs and so... people who use those services are ordinary people that usually buy songs, attend to concerts and so on. Journalists aren't massive clients from Fascination Records, and I am sure they aren't the market that Fascination wants to reach. The real one are those ordinary people, like us, who use those internet services. For me it's OK, if the new single will be out in May or June or whatever. I am a real Sophie fan, I really adore her and I believe in her, but unfortunately others aren't and then they just start spreading negatives words about these push backs. We just can't neglect the fact that pushing back things constantly is null, because it does has some consequence.
It was me the one who wrote the comment above. Now I've found a bug on the website... the user session times out, but he can still post in an anonymous way. This have to be reported, please.
The problem is not with Sophie, the problem here is that "Fascination" is postponing the single (and with this, the album also) Why they do this? they should give us a "good" reason.
i don't see why there needs to be any frustration. they delay is only by a week. Apr 26th to 2nd May. For those unfortunate souls like me who have their exams on the same day as the release date, this could be very annoying. But on the bright side, the single will hit the radio much earlier. Its bound to be a hit, and the radios will keep playing it. Plus, the radio here loves Sophie. They play a lot of her songs, and i'm sure this will get hell lot of airplay....
A one-week pushback won't hurt, I guess, though for me FASCINATION RECORDS (and NOT Sophie) has lost its sincerity a long long time ago. I made this clear in case I'm being insulted by DoS for not being a Sophie-fan, just because I don't like the record company. Nonetheless, it won't take long anymore before Bittersweet hits the radio! This week has been all about great updates on the album and Bittersweet, I love it!
"a great songwriter once wrote 'life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans'

Sums it up perfectly
OMG, i`m so excited, Sophie, come to Dublin, will you??? God, amazing as it might sound i`ve only known you for about a year now, but i totally adore you and your songs and looking forward to having your new album... best of luck with your new album and single.
I have to tell you... I accidently came across a "youtube" video of Sophie while searching for ABBA's, Frida. Weird huh? Being in the USA and being in radio in all, I have never heard about Sophie Ellis Bextor before yesterday. Her voice was sooo aluring, with the very catchy lyrics and songwriting. It's a darn shame that she's not known here in the USA. Lord willing, that will happen soon... who knows? I am planning on ordering a couple of cds of her no doubt! She made me an instant fan! And I'm 43... go figure. ...LOL... Anyway, May God bless you Sophie in all that you do!
